PPT 2003 - MP3 file not allowing slide to transition

I have had this problem multiple times before, and I can't figure out how to
fix it!

I insert an MP3 file into the presentation, and then the slide seems to get
"stuck" until the song finishes. For example, in this particular
presentation, I added a song to the first slide, and it is working just fine
- playing during the presentation and all the slides are transitioning as per
normal. However, I added a second MP3 file later in the presentation (after
the first song finished), and it seems to jam the presentation; slides stop
transitioning, and everything seems to get "stuck" on that particular slide
until the song is done. I'm not doing anything different with this file than
I am the first one that did work, so what gives???? How does one troubleshoot
this?

I assume the first song is running through multiple slides and working
correctly?
If so, try this:
On the slide where you inserted the second mp3, click Slide Show > Custom
Animation.
Double click on the added Play effect.
Under Start playing , select "From last position".
Click Ok. See if it works this time round.

I just tried that...not helping :(

The first song is working just fine; the second song starts...and then keeps
going...and going...and causes the slide that it's embedded in to not
transition to the next one!

There's another presentation embedded onto the existing one?
