PPT 2003 Empty slides when opening some previous version presentation

I have a PPT presentation that was created with a
previous version of PPT. When I open it in PPT 2003 most
of the slides appear empty. I can open the presentation
in a previous version of PPT and the slides appear as
they should.

Is anyone aware of the same problem but in Outlook. I have users who
save emails out to a network drive and since Office 2003 was installed
they have been unable to open some of these mails.
I've tried the patch which fixed the Powerpoint issues we were having
but not this.
