When opening a new file in powerpoint, the opening view
always defaults to a slide as well as the thumbnail view.
Is there a way change the default opening view to slide
only? (no thumbnail view) Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

Thanks

In PPT 2000, there is no "thumbnails" task pane on the left -- it's only an
outline pane. So the only way I can think that you'd get both a slide and a
thumbnail is if you'd saved while viewing in black and white. But saving in
B/W View doesn't affect the presentation -- when you open it the next time,
it's always in color view.

Can you double-check your version of PPT, please? Go to Help/About and see
what version it lists there. That may make a difference here.
