powerpoint 2003 .ppt attachments open in slideshow, not normal vie

We run MSOffice Pro 2003. When the boss opens .ppt files from Outlook
exchange, it always goes to slide show with no way to get back to normal view
with outline on the side.
We changed the default open view within powerpoint, it still always opens in
just a slideshow. The boss wants them to open in Normal View.

Thanks for the tip John, My boss unknowingly installed Powerpoint viewer when
he opened a clients cd-rom demo and it changed all his ppt associations to
use the viewer and show the presentations.

I solved it by re-associating .ppt with powerpoint.
