PP 2003 viewer on win98 machine?

My dad's older win98 machine does not have Office, just Works & Word 97. I
created a test file in PP 2003 for him, and told him to get the PPT viewer
for 2003 so he could view it. Unfortunately, it appears that he cannot run
the 2003 viewer on his machine--he gets a box saying his system didn't
support it.

I do have PP 2000 available to me, but now I'm not sure what version of
the
viewer he should get so that he can see the file. Any suggestions?
Upgrading
to a newer machine or Office is not an option for him.

If he were to upgrade to Windows 98 Second Edition, he could use the PowerPoint
2003 Viewer. If that is not possible, he can use the PowerPoint 97 Viewer.

The animations and transitions added in PowerPoint 2002 and 2003 will not play
for him, but he'll be able to see images, text, etc. Alternatively, if you turn
off the new features in PowerPoint 2003 when you create the presentation, it
will play fine in the PowerPoint 97 Viewer. Go to Tools > Options > Edit and
disable the three items at the bottom of the dialog window.

Thanks Sonia! Upgrading is not gonna happen with him--he's 81 and lives
1000
miles from me, and a 'puter phobe to boot, so I can't help as much as I'd
like to :( If the 97 viewer works, which it should, I agree, then we'll
try
it.

Ah! Well, all I was gonna do is create a simple PP with photos and a small
..avi (will that work tho?) so with luck, he'll be able to see that.
off the new features in PowerPoint 2003 when you create the presentation,
