PP 2003: Problem with slide masters

I have a presentation I've created in Powerpoint 2003. It has 6
different masters. When I make a change to a master, shouldn't I see
that change reflected in the slides that are using that master? What
I'm seeing instead is the change being applied only to the slide that
happened to be selected when I changed to the Slide Master view, even
when I choose to "apply to selected slides."

Newly created slides, of course, are correct.

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks!

Okay, following up with more detail - SOME changes get made to the
slides, but not others. For example, if I make the title font hot
pink, it immediately shows up in the slides. But an added footer
doesn't.

Thanks.

In some cases, you will have to 'Reapply' the layout to the slide; in
the case of footers, I believe you will have to reapply the header/
footer to the slides.
