Hello Betty,
As Echo explained, there is no way for PowerPoint to know if a secondary
display is plugged in or not (only if the secondary monitor setting is
enabled for extended desktop in the Display control panel) so, if the
system tells PowerPoint that mutiple monitors are enabled, PowerPoint
defaults to displaying the slide show on the secondary monitor (the mostly
likely display port to which an external monitor or project would be
connected).
Of course, if you (or anyone else reading this message) feel strongly
PowerPoint should provide some kind of feature for recoverying from this
scenario which we cannot avoid (perhaps by providing a toolbar/button in
the primary displays that indicates on which display the slide show is
running and an option to switch to the primary display (without having to
end the show, change the set up show options and restart), don't forget to
send your feedback to Microsoft at:
http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp
As with all product suggestions, it's important that you not just state
your wish but also why it is important to you that your product suggestion
be implemented by Microsoft. Microsoft receives thousands of product
suggestions every day and we read each one but, in any given product
development cycle, there are only sufficient resources to address the ones
that are most important to our customers so take the extra time to state
your case as clearly and completely as possible.
IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions).
