Powerpoint Narration/Timing Problems

Scott

Hi

My problem involves a couple of things with my narration. When I go to review my narration and timings I find that on some slides the narration and timings get cut-off and jump ahead to next slide. On other slides the narrations and timings finish successfully but do not move forward.

I have slides that end either with:

a.. an image and I narrate and click to transition to the next slide
b.. a graphic, such as an arrow that dissolves in and I narrate or stop narrating and click to transition
c.. with text and I finish narration in one of the above ways
d.. no narration but a timing for an effect and then transition
I've tried the help and I have tried the newsgroup at microsoft directly but I have had no success and this is for a major, major business proposal to a very large firm here. Any help will save my butt big time.

I use MSOFFICE 2000 Powerpoint.

Thanks,
Scott

The first thing I would do would be to check the transitions for each slide and make sure that On Mouse Click is the only checked box for the slides that you want to advance manually. If Automatic in XX seconds is selected too, that might be causing you problems.

Yes, this is exactly the same problem I talked about in "Problems with
timings with narration" a couple of posts down. When I read through all the
posts that had to do with timings and narrations, I was beginning to think I
was the only one who ever had this problem, but now I see that is not the
case. I too am using PPoint 2000. It appears to me that when you use the
"Record Narration" feature, it leaves both boxs checked (On Mouse Click and
Automatically in XX seconds). I have played with these but it has not solved
my problem. Sorry I can't offer any help, but now I know I'm not alone.

Let me add something, Scott. I don't know when you presentation is due. I
wasn't up against a deadline with mine, but I worked on it 3 or 4 days
pulling my hair out trying everything to get it to work. My problems seemed
to be connected with simple animations (appear, wipe, or whatever) on images
and bulleted points -- simple things that PPoint normally does best. I had to
turn off the animations with the images (whether I liked it or not), and
divide slides. So a slide with three bulleted points became three different
slides, each adding a new bulleted point. And that worked. So that may be a
work around if you are up against a deadline.
