powerpoint narration failure

I am putting together a powerpoint presentation in which I have several
slides containing narration. I have mixed results. Sometimes the entire
narration segment gets recorded and sometimes only part of it does. It
happens when I am using either the internal mic on my laptop mac or an
external usb mic. I do not know of the failure until after I have made the
recording and then play it back. The timer keeps running for the whole
recording while I am in the record mode, but that does not guaranteee that I
will get the full recording. I do not have this problem when I am recording
narration for an iMovie, just during powerpoint.

I can't find anything else in the KB that would address this specific issue.
I will say, though, that I don't think PPT's record narration feature works
very well, so when I have to add sound to PPT, I record outside of PPT and
then add the sound to the presentation.

Harry, since you mention iMovie, are you on a Mac? While it's not obvious from
the name of this group, it's mostly about PowerPoint for Windows and/or
PowerPoint in general.

Yours is certainly a general question but there's also a mac-specific
Public.Mac.Office.PowerPoint newsgroup. You may want to post your question
there also.

oh, and there was a KB article for PPT 98 and narration, too, that seemed
kinda sorta relevant.
