A user contacted me with an unusual problem. He created a
normal 21 slide Powerpoint 2000 presentation, without any
security included. It is made up of about half picture
slides and the other half are just text. There are no
embedded links. However, he was unable to reopen the
presentation after closing it. When he or I tried to open
it, we would get a network login box that freezes the
entire program and never opens the file.
I was able to finally open the file by accidentally
clicking on a wrong file in Windows Explorer that required
a network login. After "ok'ing" the login box, I went to
try and open his file and it opened just fine. I was able
to print it to his printer and then I exported the
presentation into a Word document and sent it to him. He
recreated the presentation only to find that the same
thing happened again. Is there some type of flaw in
Powerpoint that makes this happen or is he just very
unlucky. He has created many other presentations in the
past and never encountered this problem before. Has
anyone seen this before and is there any way to fix this
annoying little problem?
Thanks in advance,
