Powerpoint and animated gif HELP

[newbie]

I have a number of powerpoint presentations with animated gif that run
fine on Powerpoint XP but do not animate on Powerpoint 2003.

They also run with animation when view with XP's internal fax and
photo
viewer.

Has any one else had a similar experience and a solution?

If not can I install Powerpoint XP on a machine that has Office 2003
on it?

I thought I was the only one with this problem but only with non
repeating gifs. Try this change play once to twice.
