Powerpoint 2007 jumps while editing shapes

Hello,

I have a problem with editing shapes or other items in PowerPoint
2007.

If I want to edit a big shape and zoom into a corner of square shape ,
every time I change the size PowerPoint changes the view to the middle
of the shape so that I have to re scroll to the top corner.

Is there any option that turns that off? I have to prepare a big
PowerPoint presentation with a lot of pictures and shapes and this
matter is costing me a lot of time.

Thanks for the help in advance.

Best Regards,
Luca

I always thought it was a GOOD thing that ppt jumps to the selected item
when zooming in. Of course I am mostly using that when I select a very
SMALL thing. Never thought about dealing with a large selected object.
Maybe place a tiny object next to the spot you need to zoom to, select it
(only), and zoom away.

The problem is, if you're working closeup on an object that's not in the
center of the slide, when PPT jumps to the center of the slide, you can no
longer see your object to work with it....

It's a bug. A really annoying one with no real workaround.

Huh? In ppt2007, if I create a tiny box in the corner of the frame, select
it, then zoom in to 400% using the dialog box OR the slider, ppt zooms in to
an area of the frame that includes the box, not the center. I just tested
and confirmed this.

Yes but this is different, if I understand the OP correctly.

Draw a BIG box. Now zoom way in on the upper right corner, for example.
Then
drag the corner a bit.

Better get it right the first time because as soon as you let go of the
mousebutton, PPT's going to zoom to the center of the object, not leave
you
where you were. Now you have to scroll back to where you wanted to be.

How do you spell "TEDIOUS"? ;-)

'zactly.

(I didn't explain the bug behavior very well. Thanks.)

OH. That is no fun at all.

Unfortunately not. It's a bug, actually, not a feature.
MS is aware of it, we're hoping for a fix in a service pack or hotfix
release,
but so far, we haven't seen it.
