Powerpoint 2003 password functionality

Is it possible for users to open a powerpoint presentation
in powerpoint 2000 ? I am looking to use the password
protection functionality in 2003 but am not sure if users
with lower versions would be able to open the document. If
I then save the presentation as a 2000 document, will it
still retain the password functionality ?

Lyndsey ,

Password protected presentations will not open in 2000. Likewise, you cannot
password protect a 2000 version document. Else, 2000 can open a document
from 2003 that is not password protected, but will not benefit from any of
the new animations from 2002 onwards.

What Glenn said. But also ... you can't save a presentation as a 2000
document. All versions from 97 on share the same file format, so there's
never been any need for "backwards saving". In general, if the older
version doesn't understand something in the newer PPT file, it ignores it or
converts to the nearest thing it can handle.
