PowerPoint 2003 org chart - need more space

Donna M.

Hi. I need more space to add boxes in the org chart area (top to bottom, not
left to right)

I went to help and it said go to the org chart tool bar, layout, click
expand organizational chart. This option does not exist there. I'm not even
certain that is what would have helped but I'm not able to try.

Donna M,
The Help-files seem to relate to the 2002 version (aka XP), there you could
use the Layout menu on the toolbar to expand the chart. This has disappeared
from the 2003 version. The question is why do the help files not reflect
this.
If you want to add more boxes in the vertical axis just select a shape,
click insert shape button and choose subordinate. The chart will resize to
accomodate.

It won't expand further. Perhaps I've entered all the boxes PowerPoint will
allow me to enter. It seemed I had plenty of space at the bottom portion of
the page to expand the chart area, but maybe it's a limitation. I did fit 6
boxes and I'll be okay as long as nobody else gets hired! Thank you.

I just stumbled upon the solution by chance.

Every time I had clicked on the org chart to work on it, the large box that
surrounds the entire org chart and looks like a text box would come up. When
this box comes up, the org chart tool bar also appears.

I just clicked on the sheet and that box didn't come up this time but rather
dots or handles that let you expand the org chart area. Sometimes I have to
click several times around the page to get it to come up.

Donna,
I thought you were aware of the handles, who do appear when you click on the
chart but you problem was adding another level to the chart.
Thanks for letting us know you solved it.
