Hello, All,

Strange thing. PPT 2003 with SP1 and all hotfixes hangs when I'm trying to
open any .ppt file. Same files open well on the near computer with the same
Office 2003.

When Sysinternals Filemon is running in the background, it opens well too.
:) So I can't figure out what file or smthg else makes it hang.
There is no Add-Ins, macros or other plug-ins installed.

Does anybody encounter the same problem?

Find and delete your *.PCB file. That's the PPT toolbar, and it will be
recreated when you next open PPT. Of course, you'll lose any customizations
to the toolbar.

Here are a few tips that might help,

Powerpoint needs a printer driver installed when it starts up, install a
local printer and set it as your default, (even if you don't have or use
one...) network printers that are disconnected or offline will cause issues
with powerpoint, and so will having no printer installed.

Check your temp folder, it can cause some issues if too many files are in
there...

Ensure if you are using it off of a network drive or floppy, make sure to
copy and work on it locally, then afterwards copy it back over to the
net-drive/floppy.

Regards,
