Powerpoint 2003 - Added Music - Slides won't advance

I've got a slide show with timings and when I added an mp3 file, the timings
are ignored and the slide won't advance. Before I added the mp3 file, it
worked fine. (Btw I used Insert movies and sounds/sound from file to insert
the mp3 file.)
I've reviewed

and had no luck. I've got another powerpoint slideshow with music and it
works just fine. I've looked at all the settings and they seem to be
identical.

Any ideas? I'm perplexed.

Go to custom animation, right click on the play effect and click Effect
Options.
Set the "Start playing" to From last position and see if it works.
