Powerpoint 2002 - Thumbnail View -Zoom limitations

Rich

In the thumbnail view the Zoom dialog box (under the View
tab) list various options as well as an entry for a
specifc percent size displsay.

In this dialog box options for over 100% are listed but
shadowed out and I can elect them.

My questions is why? Under an older version I coild
elect, say 200%, which would show a 2 x 2 slide set at a
size you could READ the text on a slide and mark it for
later edit.

At 100% (the largets allowed in my version) they are three
up and too small to read for effective editing.

Can the zoom options be changed?

Rich,

It would be a real help if we had some hint as to what version you are
using?

Hi,

As for what is happening, you can't zoom past 100% in slide sorter view. I'm
surprised you can see options larger than this greyed out, though.

But you can change your page setup to make your slides bigger, and they will
look bigger in slide sorter view. But don't forget to down-size them back to
normal.

Glen,

I use the following version Microsoft PowerPoint 2002
(10.4205.4219) SP

And the dialog box looks like the attached file.

As you can see the higher percentages do appear

And in the past I COULD go to the higher percentages

The net result was instead of a view that appeared like

_________ _________ _________
| | | | | |
| | | | | |
| | | | | |
| | | | | |
---------- --------- ----------

Instead I could view as
______________________ ________________________
| | | |
| | | |
| | | |
| | | |
| | | |
| | | |
| | | |
---------------------- ----------------------

Am I crazy or what

Hi,

Rich sent me a screenshot that helped enormously! He got to the zoom
function by a method I had forgotten existed! I always use a scroll mouse +
the control key. His method is:

View| Zoom...which brings up a dialogue box.

Using this method in slide sorter, the options above 100% are definitely
there but greyed out. But under the drop down box that is on the Standard
toolbar, those extra options don't exist. So...

I never remember being able to zoom beyond 100% in slide sorter view. So, if
someone has previous versions such as 2000 or previous, you could perhaps
test that.

Go to slide sorter, and then View| Zoom... Please let us know if it can be
zoomed beyond 100% in those earlier versions.

BTW, Rich. Maybe invest in a scroll mouse and you wont ever have to use that
box again <g>. And again, thanks for the extra information that helped me
get my head around it.

BTDT in 2000. 100 is as far as it goes. The same was true of PPT97, too.
