Powerpoint 2000 Titles on Slide Master

Can anyone please tell me the correct procedure for
repeating the same title on every slide except the title
slide. I went to the slide master and removed the
placeholder and inserted a text box with the title I want
to repeat on every slide. When I insert a new slide it
defaults to the original showing both the new typed title
and the placeholder. How do I remove the placeholder
from every new inserted slide. Many thanks.
 
On the master, instead of deleting the placeholder, move it off the active
slide area (top, bottom, side) and it will not show up any more.
