Powerpoint 2000 Fault

On an installation with Office 2000, when starting Powerpoint, an error
message is given:

" The system is running low in resourses. Would you like to treminate the
following application:
Microsoft Powerpoint [Not Responding]"

The pc "freezes" and the reset button needs to be pressed to restart. All
other Office applications (Word, Excel, Access) operate correctly. I have
tried to repair Office installation but the problem has not cleared.

How can I repair the fault without having to unistall and reinstall fOffice
from scratch as over the years a number of critical updates have been
effected, which I do not wish to loose.

Thank you in advance for your kind assistance.

I'd try re-running Setup. It'll detect that you already have Office installed
and offer to do a "maintenance" install, which will replace any missing files
and overwrite any incorrect version files with the correct version ones.

It shouldn't overwrite any newer files, so it shouldn't remove any updates.

Incidentally, most critical updates eventually get rolled into the later
service packs. You can usually just install the most recent SP to get all of
the previous updates.
