Has anyone figured out how to patch this to the latest version in Vista? I
right click and choose run as admin. and the error I get is "No valid
sequence could be found for the set of patches".
I know this patch works in XP but I can't get it to update in Vista. The
extracted file is an .msp extension if that helps?

Thanks for any help, Rich

Rich,

I had exactly the same problem. Avanquest (V-Com) is absolutely no help with
this. They do not officially support PowerDesk on Vista and will not make any
fixes to PD 6. They said version 7 is coming but is a few months away.
Arrrggghhh. I ended up buying another copy of the software - the download is the
latest version 6.0.4.2. After all, isn't that one of the benefits of Vista - to
get us to spend MORE money to buy "updated" software?

Cheers,
Gary

Thanks for the info. I sent which ever company that owns this now an email
asking for the 6.0.4.2 file so I don't have to patch it.

I'll let you know if I hear anything.

You can simply contact V-Com support, giving details of your previous
purchase (Order#, order date, etc) and support will send you a new installer
for 6.0.4.2. I did this about two years ago. However, 6.0.4.2 is not
compatible with Vista. One year ago, I already asked V-Com and they said
that PowerDesk 7 is in the works. One year later, there is still no news
about PowerDesk 7.0. It is probable that they have cancelled PowerDesk 7.

BTW, I am now using Directory Opus 9.1.0.2 and it is a good replacement of
PowerDesk.

Actually, 6.0.4.2 works very well with Vista. I have had no trouble with it other
than once in a while it hangs in memory on close. I have to kill it with task
manager. But, it does the same on my XP Pro machine.

I have looked at Directory Opus, but my initial take it lacks some features I like
to use in PD. But you have had good sucess with it?

OK they finally got around to sending me the entire 6.0.4.2 complete file
and it installed and runs fine. Just had to uncheck all the replace this
and that and let Microsoft handle control panel etc.

When my old version started giving me problems, I upgrades a couple months
ago to Version 6.0.4.2.

It has been running fine under XP Pro on our one remaining XP machine and
three Vista Home Premium and two Vista business laptops with no problems.
