Power Supply recommendations?

Hey guys,

Power supply died (An Enermax 500w) after putting in my new graphics card, stinking out my bedroom in the progress.

The system spec is in my sig, and the 275GTX box recommends 550w.

I am looking at Corsair as from what I've read they are meant to be one of the best to go for, however I'm wondering if the http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-014-CS&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat= is cutting it too fine?

Leaning towards its big brother http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-008-CS&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat= if I'm honest.

Am I barking up the wrong tree? Any help appreciated.

Have to agree with the others, 650W should be the minimum with that amount of components relying on it, especially the grafix card.

It's possible that your system tried to draw too much current from your humble 500W Tagan and that's what fried it.

Corsair; OCZ & Seasonic (who actually make some Corsair PSU's) would be my recommendations.

Good price at Ebuyer, shame the free shipping it 5 working days.

I get free next day shipping at OCUK anyway though. ;)

I'm going for the 650w Corsair from ebuyer (Cheers for saving me fifteen quid AB :D).

I figure its worth the extra cash. My Enermax was of a good quality, but I think the new gfx card was just too much for the poor old thing.

Cheers for the input guys, much appreciated

Bought it from overclockers in the end because of the next day delivery. Ordered yesterday evening, came this morning :O

Was a nightmare to fit, took ages. Had to remove everything :p

All working now, good stuff.

Cheers all :)

Good stuff PG :thumb:

I never order any goods online where I'm going to be uncertain of the delivery day if I can help it, I really don't want to have to stay at home three working days or more to take delivery, so I will pay a little more sometimes.

I've just ordered an item from Scan which will be arriving on Monday but I get free shipping with them.

It is really very quiet. Much quieter than my old one. Quality piece of kit.
