Power Spike

I had a power spike last night at my home that knocked out
my HP computer running Windows XP Home Edition. It fails
to boot past the OS splash screen. The machine actually
turns off and restarts. Then, it goes back to a message
that gives me options to go into the various SAFE modes
but they fail as well. My XP disk is on a separate
partition and does not allow for Non-destructive system
recovery. It will essentially wipe out my drive and
reinstall the OS and any apps trhat came with the
computer. I would like to avoid this and try and get into
the OS to run a restore. Does anyone have any suggestions
for this?

Thanks,

Rich

Hi

Power spikes can cause havoc with a system. If you can't perform a 'Repair' install, then your only way round this problem is to re-format and re-install XP - sorry.
