Power Scheme Settings Multiple Users

How can I set up our family computer so that the power scheme settings are
the SAME (custom setting) regardless of who is logged on - and even if 'no
one' is logged on(!)

There are 4 user accounts on the machine: 2 'admin', 2 limited (kids) ...

How are the power settings activated for the limited user accounts anyway?

Thanks!!

Hi Rich,

There's no "easy" way to do this; the settings in the Power Options control
panel are specific to the user profile, there are no settings for the
computer itself. Also, the only setting provided for in the Local Group
Policy is "Prompt for password on resume from hibernate/suspend" (at User
Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Power Management).

I haven't tried this myself, but it should work. In the registry, there is
a hive named HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\PowerCfg. These are the control
panel settings for the current (logged on) user. Set the control panel up
the way you would like it, and then copy this registry hive to to the
corresponding location for each SID listed under HKEY_USERS. Don't forget to
do .DEFAULT as well so that it will be the policy for newly-created users!

Good luck,
- Steve
