power plan on desktop

Anyone know why Vista x64 assumes my desktop is a laptop? Today I was
watching a video (from MS website) and system just shut down. WHen I
restarted it said it had shut down due to low battery and I need to recharge
or plug in. Now the little power meter shows me 99% charged. This going on
with anyone else?

You must believe that posting three times will provide an answer three times
as fast. NOT.

Chuck,

How can you possibly not know that MS is having problems with the web
interface to this newsgroup? Multiple posts are incredibly common, because
the web interface tells the user the post didn't work. There are literally
thousands of dupes over the last few weeks.

Cut him some slack.

It is not his fault. His web-based newsreader has a bug that causes him to
think his posting failed. So he believes it and tries again. Like you or I
would.

I have seen this, but I had just lost power and am plugged into an APC UPS
via the USB cable (So it thinks it's a laptop). My wife's XP PC did the same
thing, so I don't think it's a Vista problem.

No Chuck that is not true at all. I tried to post this message and it said
there was an error and the post did not go thru to try again later. I tried
again later and got the same message. The third time I tried it said my
message was received. It is nice to know that the message board police are

Thanks micheal. I also am plugged to an APC power supply and it did click on
due to a flux in the power right before this happened.

I'd report that as a bug to MSFT using the feedback icon. Strange activity!
Unless Vista has gotten so sophistcated that it is measuring the amount of
power coming in and there was a drop in the incoming power. Are you on some
type of APC or just a powerstrip connected to the wall outlet?
