power meter & volume icons

I own a new laptop with XP Pro installed. I am having the following problem:
On the task bar, in the area of the clock, I used to have a speaker icon
which was a shortcut to the volume controls. I also used to have a power
meter icon which indicated my battery's power level and if I was plugged in
and charging. Neither of these icons show up on the task bar any longer. The
first thing I did was open the power control menu and make sure the box was
checked to have the power meter displayed in the task bar. The box was
checked, but no icon appeared. I unchecked it and clicked ok, then went back
in and rechecked it-nothing happened. I also did this with the volume icon in
the volume control menu and could not get this to appear either. The problem
with these two icons seemed to happen at the same time. Any suggestions??

Hi,

Go to Settings/Taskbar and Start Menu, on the taskbar tab uncheck the option
to hide inactive icons.
