Power Management - Power Schemes have disappeared

My girlfriend is running a Sony Vaio with Windows XP Home -
while I can't change THOSE things, I do have another
problem - in her Power Management, all of the power
schemes have disappeared from the pull-down menu, and the
current scheme is listed as 'Unknown'. As such, her
monitor powers down after 1 minute and she cannot alter
it, etc, etc.

How the heck do I recover her power schemes without
reinstalling XP?
