Power management functionality

I am unable to go into standby mode because of the mouse I am using. I do not have a 'power management' tab on my device manager for pointer devices to enable me to uncheck box 'allow this device to go into standby mode'
I have windows xp home - does anyone have a solution please?

Thanks for the suggestion RichBarry but that site does not help. Any further ideas please?
