Hi, i know theres been alot of power down problems with xp my computer gets
to" its safe to turn off your computer" then it wont power down you have to
switch it off manually... which works ok ....i can live with this but it
would be nice to know if theres a fix...
in the registery the power down value is set to 0.....i read somwhere you
should set it to 1 but dont like messing with this as not sure what would
happen
anyone got any ideas.....it may also be related to some sort of apm issue???
regards

Control Panel | Power Options. If there is an APM tab click on it and
enable APM.

Hi . there is no apm tab in power options ... motherboard gigabyte GA-7ZM
says on box acpi ready... believe bios settings are ok...win 98se was fine
the upgrade to xp caused this

A probable cause is that your installation found the BIOS does not
adequately support the 'Advanced Configuration & Power Interface'
(ACPI). It then installs the older APM, but leaves it disabled. Go to
Control Panel - Power Options, and if there is an APM page, check
'Enable APM' on it.
