potential index hosing

(office 2007 under Vista Ultimate... got that out of the way)
It appears (or at least I am suspcious that it appears) that the index for
my email is hosed. Is there a way to force a complete reindexing?

That's a function of Windows Desktop Search, not Outlook. Control Panel
should have an Indexing Options applet that will allow you to rebuild the
index. Open it, select the Outlook data stoe, click Advanced and there's a
"Rebuild" button.
