Poster Making Program

Tramp

Hi there,

During my last trip around the web I stumbled on this site
<http://users.northnet.com.au/~mitchymoo/freeware.html> They have a
program called Poster listed(version 1.2).

"Poster has been designed to let you easily and quickly create large
posters and signs, printing them at up to 10 times the size of a single
sheet. The posters are text and graphics. This program is very easy to
use, and it is very simple to create large posters. It is especially
useful when you have a number of fonts installed, as the font selection
menu displays renditions of all the true-type fonts. The final poster
size is fully configurable. This program is "Freely Distributed". The
author has given permission for the file to be distributed without
restriction, but does not permit alterations to the file."

So I download the program and that's where the fun starts.

The readme file contains this

"If you find this program useful, I'd also like to hear from you. In lieu
of money, this is great positive reinforcement.

REGISTRATION.
If you send me a note, I will notify you of new versions as they become
available. It also helps make my day."

The readme file hints that it could be either freeware or shareware.
There is nothing else either on the program or in the documentation that
suggests that it is shareware. So I send an email to the guy who wrote
the program, Bob Bedoll, to see if he can tell me the status of the
program. The email bounces back.

So I track him down to his new site <http://www.postersw.com> Where he
still makes a Poster program(now version 7.9f), which is shareware.

Since I am interested in version 1.2 I send him an email. Here is what I
get back.

"I'm sorry but I have no idea what program Poster 1.2 is. The current
version of Poster is 7.9. The earliest version of Poster that will work
on Windows 95 and newer versions of Windows is Poster 5.

Thanks,
Bob
Poster Software"

Now I'm way confused. If you go to this site <http://www.postersw.com>
and click on the "About Us" link. You will see this

"Our Chief Technology Officer, Robert Bedoll, has been a professional
software designer, developer, and manager for over thirty years, with
extensive experience in operating systems, graphics, and database
software."

Clearly it's the same person.

BTW version 1.2 works just fine on Windows ME

Tramp,
I've been looking for such a program for a while. Thanks! Also on
that page, the Symantec Game Pak is worth downloading. Just tried the
Hangman game.

Thanks again!

Hi there,

hmmmm. If you look at file properties it says
"Mofified: Sunday, May 04, 2003, 3:36:04 PM"
About says Copyright 1994
Version 7 say Copyright 1994 2003
They have the same onboard Icon
Didn't find any virii but the modified date makes me cautious.
