Post-SP2 Problems

After a near-fatal computer crash, I have installed XP SP2 and the security
updates. Now, in spite of the fact that I have completely uninstalled FP 2002
and reinstalled and updated it, FP says it cannot find my site on the
web...and fails to create the destination when I give it permission. I have
spent hours in live chat with my hosting service, and their technicians and
engineers assure me that the problem lies with my program, as they are able
to log in to publish. I, too, can log in to my control center, so am now at a
loss as to what has happened to FP 2002, or how to remedy my problem. Any
suggestions short of starting over using FTP/publish?

And what are the exact steps you are taking to Publish, and exactly what
errors are you receiving...and what's the URL to the website?

I have been using FP 2002 to publish this site for two years or so now and
have done nothing different from what was working earlier. I save my changes,
then click on Publish Web, and I get the Publish Destination window, then
Connect To domain/password window that won't go through, then when I "cancel"
it says my domain doesn't exist and offers to create it, but that returns
with four explanations of possible causes that all lie with my host, which
insists there is nothing wrong on their end. :'( The website continues to
display properly from my last successful publish date, before adding the SP2.
(thanks)

Check if you can open the site in FP
File Open site an enter http://www.fromtheoldschool.com/
Or browse in IE to http://www.fromtheoldschool.com and try File Edit w / FP

Perhaps Windows Firewall is blocking FP from accessing the net?

Go to the Securtiy Centre and allow FP (place it in "exceptions" list) to
access the web. If not using the Windows Firewall, then check, and make the
settings to do the same thing in the FW you are using.

Thanks for the suggestions. I am continuing to attempt to open my site in FP
2002 through My Network Places, and get the message, "You do not have
permission to access this Web Folder location." I don't know about settings
inside this computer that affect this, but am wondering if something got
changed during my recent updates? I think I might still need to have a chat
with my host, too...although I can view my site as is, and have no problem
signing in to my Control Center home. Also, I use Zone Alarm (Windows
Firewall disabled), and have give FP 2002 total access, so the firewall isn't
the problem.
