possible virun in IE6?

I am using IE 6.0 and recently I have been getting a lot of aggravating
security pop ups wanting me to install them. Also my Norton popped up a
message saying that it found and deleted a Trojan horse virus called
bd14108.exe. Just in case I done a search for the file and couldn't find it.
My virus definitions are up to date and nothing was found when I done a full
computer scan..
I can only assume this is a virus of some sort, because my other computers
are running fine.
Any ideas on what I could or should do? Is it time for a fdisk and format or
is there something else I can do?
Thanks for the help, Tom

Do you run any spy or ad software? You might try Spybot, Adaware, and/or
Hijack to get rid of these nasty pieces of software.

I tried spybot, with no results, but none of the others. Are they a
preventative, or will one of these clean it up after I already have been
violated? I have boiled it down to second thought.com has somehow put a file
called sct.exe on my system and I am not sure what to do. It is an
agrivating adware program....thanks for the help...tom

Both. They will take certain preventative action and clean up the crap.

I personally run Spybot, Ad-aware and Bazooka dailyand have Pop-Up Stopper
active. At the moment, I can guarantee that your system is running
significantly slower than it should be due to the amount of spyware clogging
up your system. It's a problem far worse than viruses at the moment.
Ad-aware and Spybot are also capable of removing certain trojans with more
success than Norton antivirus, I've found.

Norton has trouble removing just about anything that is running as a
process in the background. Norton also advertises spyware protection
but it only detects the most common spyware programs.

I use a combination of CoolWebShredder, AdAware, SpyBot, BHODemon,
and McAfee anti virus. Usually in that order. This fixes problems 95
percent of the time. Unless the OS is WinME, in which format.exe is
the tool of choice.

Thanks for the informatioln, I already have installed Spybot and Adware, I
will get Cool Web Shredder and give that a try too. Thanks again...
