I'm sure this has been asked a hundred times, but for a person who is the
sole user of the computer, is it possible to set Windows Vista so that the
user does not have sign on each time Windows starts up?

in the search box type

control userpasswords2

then in the window that will appear uncheck the box that says that users
must give password (something like that)

then in the window that will appear type the username and password you want
to auto-login

and thats it

oh I forgot, you have to press enter after you type that control
userpasswords2 command of course

First, I sent a note thanking you-all the other day, but it hasn't appeared
in the group.

Second, here's what happened. We followed the instructions, then restarted
the computer and it restarted without prompting for the User ID. So far so
good.

But the next time the computer was restarted, it prompted for the User ID!

What could be the problem?

Thanks,
Larry
