Yes...As long as it's not an OEM version tied to the first machine...you can
do that.
It will have to be removed from the original machine...
and will need a phone activation

I am already un-installed my Ultimate Vista from my old Laptop and installed

It keep telling me I need new key to activate it . Thank you very much .

Hello. I have a slightly different situation. I have Vista Business installed
on a Lenovo I purchased a couple of months ago. (The OS came preinstalled.)
The PC is just WAY too slow for the work I'm doing so I now want to replace:

Motherboard
CPU
RAM
PSU

However, I will keep the rest of the computer (what little is left) alone,
including the Hard Drive. I understand that if I swap out the CPU and mobo,
the PC will not boot off the Hard Drive. Is that correct? If so, how do I
salvage the components I have left including the expensive Vista Business
license? I only have a Lenovo recovery disk, BTW. Thanks in advance for your
consideration!

Thank you for the reply, Shawn. I'll definitely call up Lenovo and see what
they say. I emphatically do not want to use a cheapo Lenovo mobo but a
quality X38 like a Giga or Asus, as I'm going with a Yorkfield CPU and they
need great motherboards or they start having signal problems (with the
cheaper 4-layers). I'll post whatever Lenovo tells me! I appreciate your help!

You could have knocked me over with a feather, but I just got off the phone
with Lenovo and I can run their recovery CD on the HD with a completely new
CPU and mobo, regardless of manufacturer and it will run fine. I'll have to
wait and see about that one, but I'm certainly going to try it!!!!
