Possible purchase of the Asus P5K SE - Memory compatiability concern..

I am thinking of purchasing the Asus P5K SE motherboard, however I
seen in the manual that my DDR2 ram may not be compatible, I think.

This is what the manual said:
Due to Chipset Limitation, DDR2-800 with CL=4 will be downgraded to
run at DDR2-667 by default setting. If you want to operate with lower
latency, adjust the memory timing manually.

This is the DDR2 ram that I have
CORSAIR TWIN2X1024-6400C4 (CM2X1024-6400C4) SPD=4-4-4-12

Does anyone with this board or knowledge of this board know if the ram
that I have can run at it full rated speed of 800MHz.

Thanks
Keith

I just found the: P5K SE Motherboard Qualified Vendor list (QVL)
DDR2-800 MHz capability list.

And I see my DDR2 ram listed among this list, so does that mean that
my ram should be recognized as being DDR2-800.

Thanks
Keith

What you may have to do is go into the BIOS and enter the settings
manually.

wouldn't know how to deal with terrorists.

Hello Conor

Thanks for the reply, I will have to go through the manual and see
what it has to say about bios setup, and see if there is a section on
manual Ram settings.

Cheers
Keith
