Possible Browser Hijack/Modifier

M

matt

The startpage of Internet explorer keeps on being changed
to "about: blank" and at certain sites (e.g. some pages
at microsoft.com) the explorer gets redirected to this
page as well. I keep on getting popups.

I have used Spybot SD, Adaware and Microsoft Antispyware,
which keeps on finding several threats, but the problems
remains and when I run these programs again they keep on
finding the same problems. I have tried these programs
with system restore turned off, without any success. It
does not seem to be possible to log on to the computer in
safemode so I have not been able to run the programs in
safemode. I also tried the browser restore in Microsoft
AS, but the startpage immediately turns back to about:
blank.

The two threats that Microsoft AS indicates every time
is: "Possible Browser hijack Browser modifier"
and "Search assistant spyware".

I have downloaded hijackthis, but I am not sure how to
use it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Matt

you wanna try booting into safe mode and run MSAS in full scan and see
whether the problem goes away?

Have you tried posting your problems
not related to MS AntiSpyware to

and please don't bother to send me private mail
because I don't check my mailbox regularly

Hi Matt

I would suggest to download avast as I find it is a great
antivirus program, and from what problems that you are
having, it would be a virus problem.

What antivirus prgram are you using?

To add not one program i find does fix all poblems, so
you do need to use a few.....
