Port to new drive

XP Pro Svc Pak 2
I know this question has been asked and answered a jillion times but please
forgive me, I have been unable to locate a clear answer.

I have a system with XP Pro Svc Pak 2 and a 10 gb ide drive. I am about out
of space and I purchased a 40 gb wd drive. I want to replace the 10 with
the 40.

What is the simplest way to accomplish this?
