Hello people,

From ~2week ago , when i try to retreive email i'have got a error message
how tell me hat the server is unreachable (that is false because i can
receive my email, and on other computer everything work perfectly)

i have made a check with : http://scan.sygatetech.com (to scan my port) and
on the 25 i read: SMTP 25 BLOCKED This port has not responded to any of our
probes. It appears to be completely stealthed.

so i have check if any firewall is active on this machine but no !!

i have install Mozilla thunderbird but i get the ~same error message !! so
what's wrong ?

Thank's a lot..

Does your ISP block port 25 to prevent running a mail server?

SMTP (port 25) is not required to retrieve mail, it's used for mail delivery
from one server to another.

If you can retrieve mail on computer A and not on computer B it is likely
settings on B are invalid. As stated by Dan -SMTP, Port 25 is used to send
mail, POP3, Port 110, is for retrieving mail

I have received the new notebook today and I find the same problem:
the smtp server is not reachable (I'm able to ping it)
If I try with the old one, no problem.
I switch off the firewall without good results.
My IT manager is confused.
It seems that somebody is stopping all the traffic trough port 25.

Don't switch off your firewall unless you're behind another good one. The XP
firewall wouldn't affect this anyway, as it controls only inbound traffic,
not outbound.

Could be your ISP. But you haven't said where this SMTP server is on your
network/out of your network.
