Popup Navigator

Hi,
I get a message 'Popup Navigator Java Applet - JDK 1.1.3 Needed'. It appears
only when I get little red 'X's in, what presumably, is missing text or
images. The message does not come as a popup, but is written across the page
and is sometimes difficult to read.
I thank you in anticipation of your help.
