"popnav" making programs not run right, help?

There is something that has managed to get on my computer... when i open internet explorer or click on any option for a program that uses the internet 9 times out of 10 it comes to this site. The thing is called "popnav" and it appears to be like a search site similar to google.. but it keeps coming up when i dont' want to search for anything and it is interfering with programs i am trying to run. Does anyone know where this came from or what i can do to get rid of it?

Search for a program called "hijackthis" and run it to remove this browser hijacker
