Taken to POPNAV search instead of MSN

S

Sarah Correia

My computer used to bring me to a microsoft page when I
entered a search item in the address bar. Now, when I
enter something, it takes me to the POPNAV page and
prompts me to search through their engine.

It also has effected AIM. When I click on AIM buttons on
web pages, instead of sending an IM to someone, it bring
me to the POPNAV page and tries to perform a search.

How can I get rid of this and set everything back to
defaults?

Thanks! Please eMail me with options.

Perhaps you're referring to "shopnav" - if so, you have a Spyware
parasite - info: http://www.doxdesk.com/parasite/ShopNav.html

Sarah,
popnav.com = Adware-PopMonster
This is a "transponder" (spyware) and is usually bundled with n-Case [ugh!]

I have since found a great solution for this. Go to
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/ and download Ad-Aware (it's free). Run it
and it will find all the files inserted by the spyware. At this point
you can quarantine and eliminate them. This will remove the Popnav
reroute and get rid of any other screens that may be coming up
unwanted.
