If you want to connect to yahoo.com under Windows Mail, you have to
either pay extra, let them send you any spam they want to, or install
YPOPs.

There are also some Yahoo servers for other countries or for specific
internet providers; these often have different requitements.

Subject: Re: Setting Yahoo Outgoing(SMTP) Email

Yahoo! offers POP access to Yahoo! Mail as a free feature exclusively
for Yahoo! Delivers members. If you agreed to receive special offers in
your mailbox when you registered for Yahoo! Mail, you are automatically
a member of Yahoo! Delivers.
If you are not sure if you are a member of Yahoo! Delivers, and you are
currently signed into your account, check your status on this page. If
you are not signed into your account, you can check your status or
become a Yahoo! Delivers member by doing the following:

Sign into your Yahoo! Mail account
Click on "Options" on the left hand navigation bar
Click on Yahoo! Delivers on the Options Page
Click "Yes" under Sign Up
Fill out the rest and click the "Finished" button

Once you have completed these steps, you are ready to set up your Yahoo!
Mail account so you can read your messages on the Web and also through
another email program. Click on "Options" and then on POP Access &
Forwarding and follow the directions on the screen.

Did you carefully follow the instructions?

It doesn't look like it.

You need to use the login Id / Password you use to log into Yahoo.

You probably could have achieved the same effect by simply
setting up a new mail account with the same parameters, then
deleting the old account.

I have a Yahoo business account, and everything was fine until last
night. My area had a storm, which kicked off the power unexpectedly.
When the computer came back on, I started receiving the 0x800ccc92 error
in Outlook 2003, but only with my Yahoo account. My other email accounts
were fine.

I checked all the settings, and they were correct. Password was
correct....which I verified because I could log into my web-based Yahoo
account with the same password. I tried using the outlook mailbox
repair program, scanpst.exe. I also ran the Outlook repair. Still got
the same error.

So, I went into my Yahoo account on the web, changed the password, then
changed my Outlook to the new password.....and stopped getting that
error.

So if you get 0x800ccc92, try changing your password on your account,
then changing it in Outlook, as I did.
