i did not want to confuse anyone by posting all of this message
together...its hard enoughtrying to unscramble one much less
two......ok...i
created a windows mail account using the following: imap.mail.yahoo.com
smtp.mail.yahoo.com and then put this as my email address
(e-mail address removed) and then i entered my password...the n i closed
it with finish..the files begin to download then stop and it says to my
disbelief...that the logon to imap..whatever...i can't remember..but the
jist is a pop-up window pops up and tells me to enter my user name and
password...i do it then tell me to go screw myself...basically...it tells
me
that i did not enter the correct user name and password...so i leave that
scene and log out of yahoo.com and log back in to see if i'm crazy or
not..and it accepts my user name and password... so what in the name of a
tree is wrong with this windows mail thing...i know i got to have a paid
subscription for pop3...but not for imap....so why does it begin then stop
and ask for something and then tell me im wrong..when it is

Yahoo doesn't even offer the IMAP protocol.
It doesn't make sense that they would offer IMAP for free, yet charge extra
for POP access.

I intentionally copy/pasted your second post into my quote of your first
one. I'm only monitoring this thread.

Who is your ISP and did they give you the settings to configure the account
in Windows Mail?

You cannot use any old email address in a Mail Client, and you cannot just
guess what the settings might be. We understand your frustation but a
computer is not a toaster.

Sure, because they don't offer this on the free accounts in the US.

You need to subscribe to the Plus service, and then add "plus" to the start
of the server name.

Here are the settings:
http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/classic/mailplus/pop/pop-14.html

As to IMAP, at the moment, it's not available at all.

If you want to use POP access to the free accounts, you need to use YPOP.
