POP3 Problem

Hi

I am having some troulbe with clients who check their exchange mailboxes via
POP3. When clients connect to check their email they authorise ok and
sometimes download some of their messages, but then it will stop and no more
messages are downloaded. The clients are connecting via LAN so there are no
know loss of connection issues.

The clients have both exchange mailboxes and a separate POP3 mailbox for
their sales alias. The exchange account seem to be working fien, but the
POP3 account is not. I hope that someone can help me.

Thanks for your time.

Just to add a bit more information to this posting, I have got a business
domain, so I do receive emails to "(e-mail address removed)" the problem is
that when I reply to mail it sends it with a from address of
"(e-mail address removed)". I thought I'd clear this up just in case anyone
thought I was even more stupid than I am.

This may be OT, but why are they checking the other account via POP rather
than opening up both mailboxes in the same Outlook profile? If they need to
receive mail for another address and want it in the same mailbox as their
primary one, you could simply add the sales alias address to their existing
mailbox properties (after removing it from the other mailbox).

I realise that it could be set up so that outlook opens both of the
mailboxes, it was a matter that I had configured it as stated previously
when it had first been setup and it had all been working fine, and there is
no reason that it should not continue to work. I would like to resolve this
issue and to also avoid having to reconfigure everyones outlook to a
different configuration.

As for the second option unfortunately it needs to show that it has come
from the sales alias, if you add it to their main mailbox as an email alias
then the outgoing email will show as coming from their main email address
rather than the sales alias.

Any ideas how I might be able to resolve the problem with the current
configuration as I would like to avoid having to change all of the Outlook
configurations.

Thanks for your response.

As for the second option unfortunately it needs to show that it has come
from the sales alias, if you add it to their main mailbox as an email alias
then the outgoing email will show as coming from their main email address
rather than the sales alias.

You could create distribution group "sales" with sales e-mail address and
give allowed users "send as" permission, so they can use "From" field to
choose correct outgoing e-mail.

But of course I understand, that you don't want to change your working
configuration.
So, coming back to POP3 problem, maybe it's only connection time-out issue.
Did you try to extend connection time-out in POP3 Virtual Server?

Hi

Just looked the timeout is on 10 mins, I have changed it to 30 mins, though
it seems unlikely to be causing the problem as it stop recieving messages
after a matter of seconds not minutes. Thanks for the suggestion, any other
ideas?
