a window keeps popping up that says; p2p netwoorking
can't start server. this did not happen when i first had
windows xp installed.and it only happens when i use the
computer with my daughter also logged on. if i restart
the computer, loging her off the window does not pop
up.also is there a way to eliminate pop up ads without
having to pay for a service. i mean this is my computer
and i never asked for ads and it is an invasion of
privacy as far as i am concerned.

Uninstall KaZaA.

When KaZaA is installed, and before it will install, you must click on an
"I agree" button which gives your consent to have some spyware installed as
well as the KaZaA files. P2P Networking is part of that spyware.

Greetings --

In the future, you'll have better luck getting help if you don't
"piggy-back" your questions onto threads that are totally unrelated to
your specific issues. It would have been better for you to start your
own thread, rather than replying to someone else's question with an
unrelated question of your own.

Remove the peer-to-peer virus sharing application (probably Kazaa)
that's causing the problem, and then clean your hard drive of the
inevitable spyware and Trojans.

To deal with problems caused by any sort of "adware" and/or
"spyware,"such as Gator, Comet Cursors, Xupiter, Bonzai Buddy, or
KaZaA, and their remnants, that you've deliberately (but without
understanding the consequences) installed, two products that are
quite effective (at finding and removing this type of scumware) are
Ad-Aware from www.lavasoft.de and SpyBot Search & Destroy from
http://security.kolla.de/. Both have free versions. It's even
possible to use SpyBot Search & Destroy to "immunize" your system
against most future intrusions. I use both and generally perform
manual scans every week or so to clean out cookies, etc.
