Pop ups in IE6

C

Chris

Recently I have been plagued by pop ups from various
sources, banks, human rights organisations, porn sites,
etc whenever I open IE6.

I have pop up stopper installed, but it has no effect on
these things that pop up as soon as IE6 is opened.

I have done spyware searchs and found nothing using a
clean up suite,(a pop up for Barclays bank has just
appeared, grrrr)these damn things are driving me nuts.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

.try spybot,ts a little program,it really works it
destroys spyware then creates dummy files to confuse
them,it should eliminate your problem

Are these popup messages commimg from MS Messenger?

Messenger Service Window That Contains an Internet
Advertisement Appears
A Messenger service window appears that contains an
Internet advertisement that is similar to the following
text:
Messenger Service
Message from source to your_computer_name.ISP_name on date
time Message Text

Stop Messenger SPAM
The developer of the messenger spam software indicates on
their web site that "these messages are completely
anonymous and virtually untraceable. With this program
your IP address never shows up anywhere."

Your computer may have been hijacked. For information about pop-up windows,
how to get rid of them, and prevent them in the future have a look at the
link below:

You do NOT need any third party download, from 'stopmessengerspam' or
anywhere else, to stop Messenger Service popup windows. In fact it is
downright dangerous to simply download a third party product that disables
ones service without addressing the CAUSE of the problem - which is that the
affected computer's security has been compromised. It is far more important
to get a FIREWALL and make sure it is running and configured.

I am having a very similar problem with IE6 only I noticed this more
when my ISP was taken over from AT&T Broadband to Comcast. Now that
everytime I open IE6, the header displays "Internet Explorer brought to
you by Comcast."

I have tried to remove and reinstall IE6 using the Add/Remove Windows
Components but it still comes up as such. In addition, the home page is
Zestyfind.com. When I change the startup page to MSN.com, it still comes
up as Zestyfind.com and pop-ups galore!

I do not have this problem using Internet Explorer 8 or Netscape 7.1.
Beleive it or not I like using IE6 because of it's simplicity but I
can't stand these pop-ups.

I have been using AdSubtract to control pop-ups and BlackIce Defender
firewall in addition to the one supplied by Windows-XP.

I feel your pain!
