Pop-up window

When I open a new web page, I'm getting a pop-up window
that states, "Action canceled Internet Explorer was
unable to link to the Web page you requested. The page
might be terminated...." I believe this to be caused by
an advertisement on the newly opened web page. The
problem is that I am unable to get rid of the pop-up
window without rebooting my computer. Needless to say,
this is time consuming and very annoying. Is there
something I can do with Microsoft Internet Explorer to
fix this?

Hi,

This is probably because of adware programs. The best course
of action, obviously, is to remove them. This is best done
by third party programs which scan your computer, deleting
such programs as they go.

First, download AdAware. This is an excellent program which
detects and deletes spyware, and other malware programs.
AdAware is available from:

http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/

After downloading and installing AdAware, *be sure to update
it*. This will ensure you are protected against the latest
threats. Then, run it.

Next, we'll get CWShredder. This neat program catches
variants which may have been missed by AdAware. CWShredder
is available from:

http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/cwshredder.zip

Together, they should both remove any spyware which is
present on your system.

If you would like more detailed information, an excellent
resource can be found here:

Best Regards,

Altrus
