pop up messge from MS IEX 10/10/2003 10:26pm Tucson,AZ

I was just geting ready to bring up my Outlook Express
when the pop up appeared on my desktop.
" w32 RPC Virus Warning
Your pc may be infected.
Click on " OK" to
SCAN AND CLEAR
I chose to "x" out of the pop up. Has anyone else had
this happen?

Yesterday When I accidently mistype http://www.travolocity.com I also
get the same popup message with "javascript application" on title bar.
After I choose cancel, it redirected to http://www2.vipfares.com.

Do you have good (constantly updated) antivirus software installed, and have
you enabled your firewall? If not, do both...this sounds like a popup
message over the messenger service, which you wouldn't get if you had a
firewall enabled/installed.

Greetings --

It's a poorly crafted advertising scam, trying to capitalize on
the recent W32.Blaster.Worm outbreak. There is, to date, no such
virus. Personally, I'd never do business with a software company that
uses this kind of advertising tactic.
