Pop up blocker (sp2) fails

Guest

Greetings:

My pop up blocker that is installed with Microsoft Windows(R) XP does not
stop any pop ups. All settings under tools are set to stop all pop ups,
blocker is set to high with no exceptions.

Anyone else seen this? I have tries several spyware removers, anti virus,
and system recovery, to no avial. I even overinstalled SP2....still no fix.

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Mine did that, so I searched and searched the web, and the only answer I
found was to use Firefox as my main browser.

Not only is it more secure than IE but also has better features I really
haven't looked back

Hi John :)

The problem is probably due to some kind of scumware on your system. Try the

Thank you for the reply.

For some multimedia applications and sites, MS Explorer is required as it
supports ActiveX.

Thank you very much for the reply

Thank you very much for the post.

While examining your first url, I noticed in Internet Options from control
panel, when selecting security > Internet > and advanced....there is an
interesting option "disable pop up blocker" This nasty little option
overrides the browser memu bar > tools > pop up blocker settings. Somehow,
mine was set to disable the pop up blocker in the before mentioned security
settings.

So...everyone beware..some code somewhere can disable your pop up blocker;
that is my theory.

Again, thank you very much for the help; you actually pointed me to the
answer.
