Pop-Up Blocker - cannot turn off!

Guest

I hope someone can help me, this is getting very frustrating! I cannot turn
my pop-up blocker off. I click on the tool bar under options to disable the
PUB and it says that is is turned off, yet it still keeps blocking stuff. Is
there somewhere else I need to go to disable it?

Thanks for any help. I do have windows xp also if that helps.

The information supplied describes what Pop-up blocker does, but it does not
define how to fix the problem. I have the same problem that Holly has and I
have found others reporting the same issue. The Pop-up blocker setting
indicates that it is off, but I still receive notification on EVERY site I
access that IE has prevented access to active content. Please let me know if
you have a specific suggestion that will fix this defect.

Thank you,

PM,
You may need to check your security settings in IE.

In IE> TOOLS> Internet Options> Security tab> Click on Internet icon> Custom
Levels> Make changes to allow ActiveX settings for your needs. Microsoft's
default setting is Medium. If it indicates a Custom Level, you might want to
reset to default security setting. And see if that helps.

In addition, you may need to install the ActiveX component for that site,
such as needed for banking sites. Another thing that you can do, is to add
the URL address to your "Trusted Sites", in IE.

I have the same exact issue--where IE block ALL popups included child
windows that are a part of the web application that I'm viewing (like
date selector controls/calendars in orbitz.com). I've selectively
disabled any suspect third-party add-ons and even have re-run the
windows installer to force a reinstall of IE to no avail.

Any ideas on how to adress this issue?

IE version (e.g. 6.0.2800.1106)?
Windows version?

Onechameleon:

I would like to add to above and below.

I have been fighting IE6 popup blocker for almost a week. I work for a
college and we have several pieces of software that don't work well
with the IE6 popup blocker from XPSP2 turned on. I have tried the
following:

1.) Clicked on tools and popup blocker and disabled it.
2.) I have added Exceptions in the IE popup blocker settings.
2.) Added trusted zones in the security settings.
3.) I have gone into the security settings and done custom settings:
I have even gone in and changed everything one by one to allow.

the darn thing keeps changing it back to MS defaults.

IE popup blocker is relentless it just keeps working weather you want
it to or not / set it to or not/ ask it to or not.

It is not as easy as simply turning it off, trust me on this one. I am
not sure if it is an MS problem or not but if you check the forums this
is not an isolated problem. There are several competent Techs out there
that can't get this one. If anyone has any usefull non newbie info to
add to try out I am all ears.
